Keith... If we when coach Cronin gets us back winning we will be on the real
ESPN and I don't want to pay for ESPNU... No matter what if they add it to
the standard package you WILL still pay for it, they will raise the standard
package cost... Why would I want Time warner to add it, I'm not calling
them.

And when Coach Cronin and his staff have the team winning lots of games once
again (which I firmly believe will happen), UC will be back on national TV.
In the meantime, call your cable operators and ask for ESPNU.

Zimpher. The
Enquirer tried to blame Time Warner, but think about it... If Huggins
were here would we be on the THIRD tier of ESPN for this match up?
NO, we wouldn't.
The idea that subscribers or Time Warner would change there line up
based on ONE game, or a few games is ridiculous, not only are there
not that many sports fans to warrant charging EVERYONE for the
channel, it is also crazy to think that everyone should have to pay
for it when they won't even watch it.
Again... When it all went down, everyone said everything would be the
same.
I Firmly believe that if Huggins were here, and we didn't have a team
of Jucos, they would be putting this game on Rivalry week on one of
the main two ESPN Channels. The paper is trying to make it look like
Time Warner's Fault or ESPN's fault. If our market had a big
draw(like the last 16
years)
they would have it on the Big market channels... ESPN or ESPNII.
The lack of coverage directly relates to the perceived quality of the
team.
Our coverage in the past was directly related to the success of the team.

This is my last word on the subject:
There is a James Glassman article in the Wall Street Journal about
this exact thing.
It is a subscription on the website, but if you get the Journal it is
very interesting.
A quick summery: In California Schwarzenegger is expected to sign a
bill allowing cable companies to be able to get operation approval to
remove monopolies. Cable rates have been increasing 7.8% annually.
Congress has been on the bandwagon with many state bills including
California (total of 101-11 vote), Kansas, South Carolina. In Texas
22% changed providers and are saving 22.3 per month.
None of this will be available in Ohio by the Shootout, but hopefully
in the future it will be cheaper and there will be better programming.

Time Warner has no competition where I live. There is no other cable
television provider. I suspect that this is as big a factor in many
markets. Why should it carry certain channels if there is no real
threat to lose customers? I used to use DirecTV but was dissatisfied
with the loss of signal during rainstorms. If I had another choice, I
would switch in a heartbeat.
address@hidden wrote: BS or not it sounds like they are
willing to give up their customers who take advantage of more optional
services for more low end customers. Dish, DirecTV, etc. focus more on
the high end customers and that is why I like them more. I really
think the only reason so many people are using cable is Roadrunner
being easier to use. I don't have a phone at home so DSL is not cost
effective and Dish or Direct TV has not figured it out yet.

Everything about TW has always been BS. I would switch in a heartbeat
if I hadn't fought my way to a great price last year. Switching would
raise my bill a ton, but it may be worth it.....stick it to the Man.

As I said, that is total BS.

I spoke to a friend at Warner. They are reluctant to offer extra
channels, HD, etc. because so few of their customers use the services.
From what I understand the agreement with the supplier of
regional services makes Warner offer it everywhere or nowhere. Theyhave
found that the costs from carrying the extra features in low incomeareas
outweigh the income gained from carrying it in more affluent areasthat are
more likely to subscribe to ESPN U, more HD channels, etc.address@hidden

woman
spoke to told me that it was 'under negociation'...to which I toldthey
her
better get it done or they'd have a lot of pissed off fans in cincycome the
shootout and that I would change my service if they don't.....Ifget
they
flooded with phone calls maybe something will happen....everyone
So call them and complain 513-469-1145 or 513-469-1112 and tell
you know to do so!enough .

That may be true, but somehow Dish, DirecTV, and other cable
theare able to come to an agreement on carriage and still charge less
than Time Warner is currently charging customers. I pay $20 less a
month than I paid to Time Warner and now I have NFL Network HD,
ESPN2HD, and a bunch of other HD channels. I also get a lot more
regular channels than I ever had with Time Warner. Honestly, after
couldprofits that Time Warner has shown over the past few years, they
stand to eat the cost of ESPNU and ESPN2HD without a big problem.
