Recruiting rankings do not dictate success of a team, but they do
increase the probability of success. There are always players that are
missed and players that are overrated, but there are also undeniable
talents out there. The recruiting rankings just give us some players to
look after.

If you get a verbal commitment from the player who is ranked No. 1 by a
major recruiting service, that player gets kicked out of his prep school
for failure to live up to his academic requirements, what are the
chances that player will ever quailify to play for you? Is the verbal
commitment worth the paper it is not printed on?

Mick's verbal will become a top 100 recruit because UC recruited him.

Do not put a lot of stock in recruit rankings.
