A few points about the Shootout and the timing of the game this coming season:

1. The UC-XU game is more than a game. It's a community event. Emotions on both sides are whipped to a frenzy, and even people not involved in either program are interested. This was true even during the Ed Badger and Tony Yates years, when the fan base dwindled away. The game this year will still sell out, regardless of the number of students available or people's opinions of the current university administration.

2. Unfortunately, XU has whipped our butts repeatedly over the past few years. Pulling out of the game under those circumstances reeks of an attitude of sour grapes. If we truly are the better program, worthy of national acclaim, prove it on the court.

3. Yes, the timing of the Shootout and the OSU game is tight, but so will be the timing of games within the Big East. When you have to play the likes of Louisville and then turn around within two or three days and play a UConn or Syracuse, you don't have preparation time. It's best that they get used to playing under those conditions.

Considering we still have non conference games, why would we schedule random garbage teams before we would schedule xavier? Please explain why xtown would be "bye bye".
