Re: Dare to expect BIG THINGS from this team

I think what is really funny is that anybody who knows Jon or has spent any
time at all on this Forum feels the need to defend him in regard to whether
or not he is a UC "fan." More years ago then I care to remember I suggested
on the Forum that my experience on the Forum had led me to believe widening
the "membership" base was not necessarily beneficial to the quality level of
the discussions. A number of the "old timers" disagreed. I reiterated that
point when Aji left to go home to India and then again after the Bearcat
News triumvirate were good enough to take over, which is when it became
significantly more public. I still think I am (was) more right than wrong,
but I have noticed over the course of years many of the lesser lights have a
tendency to leave, or at least not post, when people either disregard what
they post, or explain their annoyance with silly comments. The dimmer bulbs
blink out when they don't get any electricity from other sources.

That said I suggest a new poll - how many of those who were involved with
the Forum within 2 years of its inception believe that the quality of
discussion is higher now, the same as back then, lower than back then?
While over the last decade we have added some really high quality
commentators, we've "lost" a number - but are we better off today then
back then, or not?

LOL...

I think it's getting pretty funny when Breiner is called Not a fan..

So anyone that is realistic is NOT a fan
So far I've heard Breiner, Richard, Don and Myself all agree on keeping
things real.

I think it's getting time to start putting money on this :)

"It makes no sense to call yourself a fan. . . . "

I would most definitely call Jon Breiner a Bearcat fan.

Jon,

U remind me of the people that i dont enjoy talking about the bearcats
with. Why not just expect 0-30 than you will be super stoked! It
makes no sense to call yourself a fan, if you do not hold your team in
the highest regards. Too many risk managers in todays society...

I am not changing my "wishlist". If UC makes it into the NIT that
will be quite a feat. The schedule might be easier this year than
last, but not by much, and this year's team would lose to last year's
team. I am not tempering my enthusiasm, I am letting it build to
heights I feel comfortable with. If I expect 25-6 and get 15-15, I
will be very disappointed. But since I expected the worst earlier
(like immediately after AK's injury last
year) and have simply been hoping this year's team can be .500, I will
stick to that. If they achieve more, great, but I do not expect this
team to be in the NCAA tourney next year. if they are, I would say
Mick's coaching job was as good as Andy's last year. Better in some
respects, but no one
(likely) will ever have more difficult extenuating circumstances than
Andy had, so his success was truly remarkable.
