Mick did not start on even ground to get Thabeet, he got in late. UConn
has been on him heavy since last year, and was way out in front for him.
When Mick started recruiting him for UC Hasheem had already visited UConn
and declared them his #1 school of choice. He took other visits to simply
have something to compare.
Losing Thabeet isn't a litmus test for anything.

To me the inability to get Thabeet was a true litmus test for UC and Mick
since everyone started from the same point with Thabeet. This wasn't a
recruit that was being pursued for years by UConn. How many years will it
take before we will be winning recruiting battles with the big boys?
Hopefully Mick's strong recruiting abilities apply to the top recruiting
circles not just the mid-major ones (UC was in a mid-major conference the
last time he was here).
