I don't like CF's rating system because it rewards quantity over quality and does not address what a team needs. This team needed bodies, and Mick did a good job by focusing on guards. There are more 3 star or 4 star 6'2" guys than 6'8" guys so you have to go for them. Getting a few 6'8" bodies would have done little good for next year's team unless they were capable of playing right away. We did get 2 guys who can help, and that is saying alot based on only a few weeks to recruit.

And mostly for me, I just felt it was a "3-star" class, but Mick deserved a star for getting a 3-star class. that alone exceeded my expectations. I still say .500 and NIT and I will be thrilled, but I partly believe it could happen now.

I understand there is some disagreement to how recruiting classes are rated. Some prefer that classes be ranked based on average "star" value of the players, while others prefer a cumulitive approach. Let me ask you if Cronin were to get one five star recruit and no others, would that be better than five three star recruits? I recall basketball being a team sport, and having five good players is better than a team with one great player.

an extra star for doing it under the circumstances that he has.
