DF, you make a great point in (3) of the first part of your post. Having to pick a low major coach after the heights the program has reached is definitely a let down, atleast when looking at it theoretically.
Point (1) of your post: Ability to graduate
Is anything known about whether AK was aware of White's absence from classes? I find it hard to believe it wouldn't have been brought to his notice. Wonder why he didn't send Flight packing, to go park his ass in the classes!
As for your 7 criteria:
(1) in a way, is an indicator of the rest of the criteria (atleast most of them). 14 consecutive NCAA appearances under Huggins but that doesn't paint the whole picture. Save for the 1992 Final Four there has been nothing stellar. ok. the Kenyon Martin year..
Check this stat out:
"In 14 Tournament appearances, Huggins-coached teams have never beaten a higher seed!"
That is a very telling piece of information. What good is it to show up every year and leave in the first or second round?
So I think the least that we would want Mick to achieve would be atleast 1 sweet 16 (elite 8 sounds more like it).
I don't know what was lacking in Huggin's approach - was he not motivating them enough, was he getting them too uptight with his courtside rants. There has to be some reason for this abysmal record.
Point (2) -I agree
(3) BE tournament victory : i really wonder if they can pull that off
(4) regular season - so long as it is good enough to take us to the NCAA dance
(5) grad - yes
(6) player conduct - thr hard part. < 2 in 6 years woudl help mend the program's image
