Justin, both Calipari and Matta have been known as EXCELLENT recruiters their whole careers. 

Surely you haven't forgetten the great teams Calipari recruited at UMass? His 1996 team beat Kentucky that year. 

But the reason that top players go to Memphis is that they get paid $$$ to do so. That's very well known in recruiting circles.

AK has recruited excellent talent to UC. Most worked out fine. Some didn't. But he landed 3 straight Top 10 classes (2002 through 2004) and a Top 20 class (2005).
