AK has recruited good players to UC?

Jerry, I can assure you - very few of Catlett's UC recruits were also UK recruits. Collier maybe. Not Cummings. Not Miller. Not Jones. Not Brian Williams or Jim Webb. Not Gary Yoder or Lionel Harvey. Not Keith Hemans. Etc, etc, etc.

Simply put, UK and UC recruited in different circles. Likewise UC and Louisville (for the most part). UK and Louisville recruited Top 25 rated players. UC went after the Top 50 to 100 range guys. Good but not great.

Adolph Rupp retired in 1972. Catlett was an assistant at UK that year. I'm quite sure Catlett (at UC) never recruited against Rupp. And rarely against Hall or Crum.

Dean Smith didn't cheat - then or at anytime in his career. It's unfair to mention his name in the same sentence as Gale Catlett.

Banks was a sharpshooting guard. Bobbitt was a sharpshooting guard. Collier was a sharpshooting guard. All 3 were A-A type recruits. I don't see it.

I agree - Catlett was a great recruiter. But he cheated - at UC and at West Virginia, too. He had NCAA infractions and penalties at both places.

I appreciate what Catlett did FOR Cincinnati - just now HOW he did it. UC got NCAA infractions and penalties in 1956, 1959, 1978, 1988, and 1998 so Catlett was hardly alone.
