Re: That one could hurt

Went to the game last night and made the following observations. Horrible
shooting during warm-ups...no intensity. Very flat offensively early in the
game. Only McGowan seemed to want to shoot. Downey needs new sneakers! He
looks like he's on ice skates, slipping all over the place. Hicks should have
eaten Billmeier up last nite but let himself get pushed around. White didn't
try to penetrate against a much smaller defender and settled for outside
shots. They seemed to react slowly to loose balls and rebounds (like 1st Dayton
game). AK changed D's, Jihad got hot and they spurted from 9 down to 6 up.
At that point UC should have stepped on their throats and put SH away, but
missed toooo many "bunnies" at the hoop.

During halftime warm-ups, Downey was unconscious, making 6 of 7 3's. He
seemed really loose and ready to go. THEN the second half started and he
disappeared again. On drives to the hole he veered away from the hoop on his
lay-ups. Copeland was the same size and DD seemed intimidated. After White hit a
3 to put them up 39-31, UC didn't score for 6-7 minutes. The shots were not
bad except Hick's 3 ball (airball), they just wouldn't fall. BTW, the refs
didn't help either!!! One ref didn't blow his whistle all night until he
called Moore for a touch foul on Nutter's 3 pointer. Chad hit Nutter's bicep
with the tip of his finger after the shot was off and short. The same ref
didn't blow his whistle when Chad stole a ball, drove down the court, was mugged
by 3 SH players and made a lay-up with a SH player on his back.
The refs did let them play and SH seemed to want it more. UC was just flat.
Only Jihad brought his A game.

I really was looking forward to last nite and was really disappointed. SH
was giving up 74+ points a game and UC only scored 62. We (my family) was
responsible for Chuck losing his "struggle for the steak" selection last nite
and he let us have it on the post-game. I believe that the seniors will come
out "on fire" Saturday and DD will be swept up in the euphoria and have a
GREAT game.

Go Bearcats!
See you at MSG
