At this point, after the loss to Seton Hall, I'm not sure if a win
over WVU gets UC in. They probably need to win at least 1 game in the
Big East tourney (against either Syracuse or Seton Hall).
Last night was the most frustrating UC basketball game I've seen in
years, and it was pretty much due to effort. The guys came out lazy,
and outside of Hicks, White and Jihad it seemed like nobody was
hustling. Where was Downey all game long? Where was your senior guard
leadership in Moore? He played poor defense and turned the ball over!
What happened to the free throw shooting? I understand they played a
heartbreaking game on Thursday, but they had 4 full days to get their
legs back under them (almost 5 if you count Tuesday as well)! Very
frustrating...
One last thing... if they couldn't recover in 4 days from the game
against Villanova, will they be able to after the game against WVU?
With it being a must win and senior night, I'm guessing the guys will
come out fired up, just like against Villanova. Will their legs be
back under them on Wednesday in the 1st round of the Big East tourney?
That is only 3 full days to get their legs back... I'm not sure that
they have enough left in the gas tank to do what they need to do to
guarantee their spot in the dance.

Based on the reports I've read and AK's postgame comments, UC was not ready
to play against Seton Hall. In my opinion, there is no excuse in such an
important game to come out and play like this. AK during his postgame show
took full responsibility for the effort. He did not put the blame on any of
his players. I commend him for this. AK has been very good so far this
season about not taking too much credit when the team is successful and for
shouldering the blame when the team is not successful.
Now it's time for AK to prove his metal one more time. The game against WVU
is a MUST WIN if UC wants to go to the NCAA tournament. AK has been very
good preparing the Bearcats this season when UC plays in a rematch game.
Plus, Saturday's game is Senior Day. AK needs to get his troops ready to
play the best game of the season. There is NO EXCUSE for coming out flat.
Let's see how AK manages a game and how the team plays in a truly must win
situation. AK has said many times recently that one more win should get the
Bearcats into the NCAA tournament. It is time for AK and the Bearcats to
step up and seize this opportunity. UC can beat WVU, the question is, will
they?
