I'm not so sure about Downey. I think he's a special player and I love to watch him. But, his performance against the elite teams in the Big East has not been special. He said earlier that he hoped to have options for his future if not at UC, or something close to that. Will his performances in those Big East conference games hurt him? I don't know. I hope he stays and the next coach is able to build a team around him. But I understand his viewpoint and would not criticize him for leaving. I think Tilford will develop into a good player over the next two years. Maybe not all-conference caliber, but a solid contributor.

Looking forward at the situation, if I were Downey and I've been identified as having a lot of talent, what difference does it make to lose 2 or 3 years at UC or lose one and transfer to say Louisville who will be looking for a PG with Dean graduating. McGowan Stays, If I were Downey, I go...Tilford can't crack the lineup here, so who knows.

I don't see how they can keep an 8-8 team from the Big East out of the tourney.

At least there is still hope. I feel that if Downey, McGowan and Tilford don't get to go to the NCAA's this year they probably won't get to go. Don
