Well, here is my point...Robertson is a PG, not a shooting guard like Tyree and Banks. Instead, we got Tilford, who may turn out to be good, but everyone says he is not a Big East player. So I ask..."Why didn't we even look at a hometown PG who is pretty good?" We obviously did need another to back up Downey, which is why we signed Tilford.

And all I'm saying is that, we have a ton of hometown talent...it would be nice to at least look at some of it a little more.

Also, I think there are some facts here that do point to signs that Banks and Tyree were risky signings.

Start with Banks. (#1) He originally signed with Miami, FL, but couldn't qualify academically (#2) Only a couple of schools offered him, even though he is a great player. (#3) He jumped at the chance to sign with UC after Miami released him. (See his recruiting page on bearcatnews). This must mean not a ton of schools were after him. Why? I don't know, but maybe a reason.

Then Evans...(#1)his two offers were from UC and James Madison (with high interest from Miami (Fl) and NC St. but no offers from them). He's a great player obviously, so why weren't a ton of big programs wanting the 3rd all time scorer in Virginia (behind AI)? (#2) Prep school, so he obviously had grade issues. (#3)And his arrest...the incident happened in October/November and he signed right around the same time. How could no one know about this situation until mid summer??

I'm just saying taking chances on risky kids most of the time could leave situations where both kids don't work out...like now.

In addition to that comment, Robertson was a prep school kid and maybe had grade issues too. May even have been risky too. But I just wanted to know why we never even heard his name. Local talent is pretty good lately. Wouldn't hurt at least generate interest in local kids to play for UC.

Banks left in April or May and Evans was "put on hold" in June.

You didn't hear about him because UC was set at guard. Banks was on campus last
year. High risk? There was nothing wrong with Evans until last summer. High
risk, why?

The other kid signed with Auburn long before May or June.
