I think it's kind of humorous to have the players say, "THE University of
Cincinnati". Before UC rose to prominence in the early 90's, Eggs-aviers
fans tried to claim Eggs-avier as "The university of Cincinnati".

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I was trying to remember when OSU
started referring to themselves as THE OSU? Not hugely important, but
I though there were folks on this forum who may know this incredibly
important bit of trivia... ;-)
I was talking to someone about OSU, and related how once they started
to refer to themselves as THE OSU, my positive-to-apathetic
perspective on the poisinous nuts turned to antipathy.
To try to make it *seem* more on-topic, I also didn't like when the UC
players started stressing THE University of Cincinnati in their
intros... combined the silly arrogance of OSU with a "me-to"
attitude... imho.
Oh for the days when the only controversies were "the"s, red uniforms
and new logo designs!!
Thanks
