Extending AK for only two years will keep UC in it's current state of affairs....unable to recruit.  A coach needs a 4 year contract or the kids aren't sure he'll be around.  Some guys like OJ may not care as they only plan on playing 1 or 2 years but those are the exceptions, not the rule.
 
If UC is concerned they could probably sign him for 4 years with an cheap buy-out after two years.  This way AK can say he has a 4 year contract and UC can bail out early if he doesn't work out.
 
Personally, I think they are doing it right by waiting right now.  Until we see how AK performs at the conference level he can't be fully evaluated.  I know this may hit some nerves with people but IMO, 12-2 is the record I expected from this team no matter who the coach is.  Five 4-year seniors, 1 McD's AA, and 1 McD's AA runner up point guard.

On what UC needs to do to get their fans back:
Get Bob Huggins to ask the fans to come back.  I would really like to see Huggs be bigger than Z and do this for his school.  It is really depressing at the games.  The fans that are there are great, but something has to be done NOW. Hire Andy Kenedy for the rest of this year and for two more years, with the proviso that he will be evaluated after next season and he will be extended if all is well.  Otherwise, the program is going down the dumper for a few years.I surely hope someone at UC will do something to get some more butts in the seats.  Think, think, think, come on, you can do it!
 
Now if they could get Herera in there as another body ;-)  Armien is playing himself into a nice spot on the bench.  it is a real shame, because if he were anywhere near the lever of White, this team would be extremely hard to match up with.  The bigger teams are going small to keep up with UC's quickness and they are gaining more and more stamina since they are playing so many minutes.

If you have not gone to see them, go see them.  Theya re well worth your time.
