RE: Memphis game

one good thing to come from the game.....when I woke up Saturday morning the line was only 2 points. Guess who put a hundred on the Tiges:) I think the spread ended up being only 4 pts. That is unbeleivable.

It's a sad sad day in UC basketball when we don't expect to win a home game against a team we have clearly dominated for 15 years.

Don't fool yourself too much in how we played vs. Memphis. Washington was
playing injured and Carney didn't show up for whatever reason (0 pts?). They
beat us at home by 10 without their two best players playing well and the
guys that did kill us were freshmen. That being said, our effort was very
good. We did a good job on defense with the exception of closing out on 3 pt
shooters I thought. I think we guarded Andersen once outside the arc.

I thought our shot selection was poor in pressure situations when we were
down big, particularly by McGowan. Kirkland drove to the basket as did White
which was good to see. Hicks got tired. There were way too many big bodies
for him and they wore him out. Karim Cooper, the Memphis starter, had not
been in their rotation before this game. I think he was too tall for Hicks
to score over. Downey was decent but looked like a freshman in this game at
times against better competition than what he had seen before.

I'm not disappointed we lost because I did not expect to win this game but I
am disappointed that we lost the streak of not losing two in a row at 5/3.
(I thought that happened last year?). I'm sure someone will bring that up to
the players and frankly they shouldn't be made to feel bad about it because
they played hard. One positive from this loss is that I think they know what
level they have to play at to be successful in the Big East now because they
will play against team like Memphis almost every night.

Cincinnati has just 15 total assists in the last two games.

They averaged 16 apg last year.

we should just watch Armein with a different level of expectations. if the
good he does outdoes the bad hes done like today or atleast equals it, we
should be happy.

and yes, Armein looked very comfortable when he made the drives and actually
took the shot instead of kicking it back out. that was a nice sight.
