I don't think there's much doubt about Goin's relationship with
Huggins....it was always good since Goin arrived, but when you're a lame
duck A.D. with an egocentric running the university and a bunch of stooge
trustees backing her up, there's not a whole lot you can do.

If he considers Huggins a "young great basketball coach" why wouldn't he
have worked to keep him.

Just to follow-up, I saw an interview with Goin the other day where he
indicated men's basketball was/is the signature program at UC, and he
enjoyed working with Huggs, who he called 'a great basketball
coach'....further indicated Huggs is young and will continue to add to his
coaching accomplishments in the future.

Some people just don't realize how much money Huggins generated with a
winning basketball program. Huggins meant millions to the athletic program.
They bragged on Goin in today's paper about how he raised the athletic
budget from 14 million to 25 million and he really had little to do with it.
If it wasn't for Huggins and the money the basketball team brought in it
wouldn't have happened. If Goin accomplished anything, it all came about by
riding on Huggins back all the time he was here. The new AD doesn't have
Huggins to ride on and with the money going south it's going to be a
different story. He's got so many holes in the dike to plug I don't think he
has enough fingers. Don
