NBA Bearcats

And if we wanted any more reason to be gloomy about Bearcat basketball, there's not much opportunity to gain solace from watching Bearcats in the pros.
This morning's headline said "Patterson demands 25 minutes or else." He's on the inactive list for quarreling over playing time with his coach and has played in only eight games (19.3 minutes, 7.0 points, 2.3 rebounds when he played).
Fortson is out with what I believe is a sore toe. In the nine games he's played he's averaged 10.7 minutes, 2.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.3 (!) personal fouls per game.
Maxiell has only gotten in six games and averaged 4.5 minutes. If you've been able to get a glimpse of him, he's been a pretty efficient scorer, with 3.5 points in those 4.5 minutes.
Whaley has been in seven games and averaged 8.6 minutes. In his last game, a blowout loss, he got more time and managed to go 0-5 from the floor with 5 personal fouls.
So that leaves us to get our joy from watching San Antonio, where Van Exel is playing a solid supporting role (17.1 mpg, 6.8 ppg, 2.0 apg) and Denver, where Martin is healthy again and Johnson is a sometime starter. For the record, K-Mart is averaging 25.9 mpg, 13.9 ppg, and 5.1 rpg - down from his career numbers but still respectable - and Dermarr is averaging 14.9 mpg, 4.1 ppg, and 2.3 rpg.
Do we see anybody on this year's team with a chance to bring us joy in the pros as a rookie next year???
And what does the number and performance of Bearcats joining the pros since Kenyon and Dermarr say about the recruiting and coaching ability of Huggins and the staff? I say it's a negative comment about recruiting, but a positive comment about coaching and motivating ability: he got a lot out of the guys he did recruit. I certainly hope AK can learn quickly this year how to apply what he's gained from observing Huggins!
