A group of us wondered why he played for a few minutes, hit 3 3's and then
sat the rest of the game. AK mentioned after the game that Ronald would play
more if he could figure out how to run an out of bounds play, play defense,
etc. Obviously, he is a bit behind the curve from an offense/defense
standpoint.

I have been disappointed in Jihad - after a good shooting preseason, he has
seemingly regressed to last year's model. AK also mentioned Jihad is
fighting a groin injury, so perhaps that's the problem.

I'd encourage him to shoot a few. It makes the opposing center come out
from
under the hoop and guard him. That might give us some offensive rebounds
we
might not normally have a shot at.

The mechanics of his shot looked good. 2 of the 3 were wide open
shots. He
had his body set well and really stroked the shot - nice rotation on the
ball.

I think what will hold Allen back is that he seems to be a step slow on
defense. It might be he is new to the UC system so the rotations do not
come automatically. Or it could be he is slow. time will tell.

"Not sure what to make of Allen's three-point shooting..."

John, after he went out, the crowd of course cheered for him. I was not
really sure if I should join in loudly or not at all because I do not yet
know if I want to encourage that or discourage that! I don't know enough
about him to know whether or not he might miss the next 20. :)

Illinois State is not a good team; the fact that we're letting them hang
around is worrying. Lots of defensive breakdowns, but after an ugly
start
at least the energy has picked up. Kirkland and Muhammad did not seem
ready to play. Not sure what to make of Allen's three-point shooting...
