I didn't make it to the game, but looking at the box score, Hicks gets 15
points on 6-8 shooting with 8 boards in only a half game's worth of play.
What did I miss that doesn't show up in those numbers that made Hicks look
not worthy of shouldering the load?
To answer Jon first, no I am not resubscribed - reading via the web and
posting via the no email option. Did not see you in your seats last night,
may have been the glare ;-)
To answer Antonio - Look at the competition first. The school has an
enrollment of 1,200 and are stiffs (no offense intended, but they are who
and what they are IMO). The 6-8 (yeah right) guy that was guarding Hicks
gave him some major problems in the first half. I am fearful that if Hicks
is matched up with a defender that can muscle with him and block his shot
(guy last night in the first half), that he can not help the team in the
ways that Max did.
Hicks is a VERY good player, but I do not think that he is in Max's league,
right now.
The "no plays" quote explained a lot about what I saw last night. The
defensive issues of not moving their feet, triple teaming (never warrented)
and trapping on the high side - are hopefully going to go away, but when
they were your seniors doing it, you never know ;-)
Time will tell...
Andy
