Ronald Allen actually went to Cal-Fullerton before his JUCO stint. He
definitely had D1 talent coming out of HS but did not have D1 academics
which according to one "guru" kept some bigger schools off of him.
Everything I've heard and read about him makes me think that he definitely
got hit by the "Whaley bug", but it sounds like the Hurricane might have
given him some motivation to put the work in. I believe I read he's already
put on 10-15lbs since arriving at UC so something must be working.
I don't expect much from him, but if he can give Hicks/McGowan some
breathers and if his shooting is as good as everyone is saying then I'll be
happy. Hopefully he and Herrera (when the NCAA gets off their collective
arses) can see a combined 10-15 minutes a game and contribue 4-6 points a
game and get about the same amount of rebounds then this team will look a
lot better.

Allen was considered a mcdonalds all american candidate his senior year of
HS. Not to sayt this will translate into big numbers now, but that points to
him having some quality talent. Personally I hope he has underacheived and
been lazy the last few years and that his chance to play big time D1 ball
motivates him to get off his ass and work a little.
