I think he will be a difference maker... one way or the other.
 
He does have that BBall player Build, and his shot looked good(in the 10
sec' he was on the news)
 
I'm just really curious why he was where he was if he was really skilled
enough to play at this level... (I know it's possible for sure... but still)
 
If anything at least he can take up some space, and probably has more skills
that Souly.

I think one person everyone is going to overlook is Allen.  I just think
he's got a lot of potential.  He has reasonable size and just looks like a
ball player.  I don't know what his attitude is like, but I would expect him
to be very motivated following all he's been through and to get an
opportunity like this would be a huge motivation.

He's travelled (excuse the pun), and I think he's got a lot to bring to the
team.  That being said, he's banging against Hicks every day in practice,
which can only make you a better player.  I haven't seen any of the
practices, so those who have seen him practice can comment, but with Hicks
being a leader this year, I would imagine he'd want the other big guys to
produce and would certainly push him.

The odds of UC landing a big man after all that has happened at the time it
did almost seems like destiny, so I'm going to keep a close eye on how Allen
performs, and I recommend everyone else do the same.

20 minutes for Downey instead of 10, with that time mostly coming from
Tilford.  I'm guessing Downey is ready for the big time but Tilford isn't.
(I don't think the distinction between point guard and 2 guard will be a big
one this year and expect whoever gets it will be pushing it down court.  I'd

Except when fouls (or free throw percentages) cause a problem or against the
weaker teams on our schedule, I'd expect Coach Kennedy would want to have
two of the following (Hicks, McGowan, Herrera and Allen) in the line-up
together.  Coleman may be skilled, but muscle and height in at least two
players will be crucial in the Big East.
 
My sense is that this will be a breakout year for Kirkland - he'll think
less and play more instinctively without Huggins' pressure on him, but he'll
still have those defensive skills Huggins demanded.
 
Despite the negativities and the uncertainties, I think this year we'll
surprise the forecasters who have said 7th-9th in the Big East:  the
motivation to do well to honor Huggins and the motivation to do well in
order to get a job (the seniors + the coaches) or a transfer opportunity
(the non-seniors, if the new coach doesn't look appealing) will be powerful
factors.  That said, this would not have been an easy year for UC, even with
everybody back and all our recruits in place, so expecting better than 4-6
in the Big East would have been unrealistic...
