Not sure what you mean, Dan, and this is the crucial question. Do you mean that Huggs did something that we are not aware of, or do you mean that the reason is that NZ and her cohorts are just incompetent, ego-centered, etc. Maybe email me off the forum and confidentially if you like.
Perhaps I should offer my perspective of being in the academic world 34 years. Politics in the academy can be viscious. However, although I have had my share of political battles, I have never once been treated maliciously by an administrator. In fact, I have always felt that senior administrators always tried to sure that justice was ultimately done. This is why I find this whole situation so bizarre. It seems like an absolute travesty of justice. Maybe I have just been lucky.

My daughter, who is a senior and lives on campus was VERY upset about the firing as were her friends. But since that time, as more time passes, they all have seemed to have gotten accustomed to it, and on my last visit, they seemed to take the approach that there must have been a reason, and they are more concerned about classes, parties, jobs, etc.

It is discussed infrequently. I have gotten no feel for anyone's mood. I think there are many who are upset and many more who are disinterested and simply focusing on their jobs (faculty/staff) or schoolwork (students).

Now that the Fall Quarter is in full swing, I was wondering if anyone has a reasonably objective feel for the mood on campus, especially among the faculty? Do they think that Zimpher should be dumped? Is there 'revolution in the air?" Or, is it all perceived as a relatively minor bump in the road? I'm not asking how anyone on this list feels, because we are all very biased in terms of interest in athletic teams, rather I am asking about the general mood in the faculty lunch rooms.
