Those of us who are big sports fans (like myself) were distressed by the
decision. Many on campus, though, are just casual fans, or not even fans
at all. They tend to be indifferent or even supportive. I've heard this
inane comment; maybe the next coach will get past the 2d round. Also,
here at the law school, we have a new dean, & naturally enough, our
focus is on him more than the basketball coach.

My daughter, who is a senior and lives on campus was VERY upset about
the firing as were her friends. But since that time, as more time
passes, they all have seemed to have gotten accustomed to it, and on my
last visit, they seemed to take the approach that there must have been a
reason, and they are more concerned about classes, parties, jobs, etc.

It is discussed infrequently. I have gotten no feel for anyone's mood.
I think there are many who are upset and many more who are disinterested
and simply focusing on their jobs (faculty/staff) or schoolwork
(students).

Now that the Fall Quarter is in full swing, I was wondering if anyone
has a reasonably objective feel for the mood on campus, especially among
the faculty? Do they think that Zimpher should be dumped? Is there
'revolution in the air?" Or, is it all perceived as a relatively minor
bump in the road? I'm not asking how anyone on this list feels, because
we are all very biased in terms of interest in athletic teams, rather I
am asking about the general mood in the faculty lunch rooms.
