Congrats to Pirtle for grabbing a top in state player. Looks like the Big
East was a factor in Jacobs' decision.

Regina's Jacobs picks UC
Tuesday, July 26,2005
Cleveland Plain Dealer

Carla Jacobs called it a very hard decision. But now the Regina High
senior-to-be is looking forward to concentrating on playing basketball.

One of the most sought-after point guards in the nation, Jacobs has verbally
committed to play for the University of Cincinnati. "Cincinnati has been a
choice of Carla's for some time now," Regina basketball coach Pat Diulus
said. "She had a wide range of choices, including Miami of Florida, Temple
and Baylor."

The Shaker Heights resident was ranked the fourth-best point guard by
All-Star Girls Report and Blue Star Index despite sitting out most of her
sophomore season with a torn ACL.

Jacobs said her final choices were Cincinnati and Temple. "I like the fact
that Cincinnati is closer to home and that they're going to play in the Big
East Conference," said Jacobs, who came back last season to average 18.5points,
4.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 3.4 steals and help the Royals to their fifth
Division III state title in six years.

Jacobs, who plans to major in pharmacy, was named to The Plain Dealer's
"Best of the Best" and All-Cuyahoga County all-star teams last season, was
an All-Ohio first teamer and a finalist for Ms. Ohio Basketball laurels.
