Frankly Richard...
I think that aricle was a joke! That is the first time he has ever given
credit like that to her, in the past, (I'll look up the comments in old
articles) He never spoke like this.
I'm hoping your comments are sarcastic, because if one doesn't see this as
the commissioner trying to soften things for Zimpher, than you're used to
getting the wool pulled over your eyes.
Politics run rampent, he (Trangaseessee) is trying to help Z...I'm certain
he was told that there was unrest because of the Huggins thing. I'm curious
when these coments were made? After the Booing? doesn't it seem a little
TOO timely that he would be deemphisizing Huggins? Why else would he speak
on it?
they didn't need help in basketball??? I thought all the hype in the
beginning was to have the BEST BBall conference ever... I can't wait to go
back and get some quotes on why they picked us in the past... Was Zimpher
even here when they chose us I'll give Goin and the construction some
credit.. but still these comments are a little to inconsistent with past
comments and pointed toward the Huggins supporters for me to give them
credit.

Subject: [UC Basketball] Re: Tranghese
Holy Crumpets Batman - the Commissioner of the new league says what? That
it was the rest of the BEast Presidents being comfortable with Zimpher, her
vision for the school and why UC wanted to move to their conference, as well
as the potential of the football team ("where we were hurt" in the loss of 3
schools) and the overall improvement in athletic facilities spearheaded by
Varsity Village (made possible primarily by Bob Goin), plus the market,
that were the key factors in evaluating UC and offering them admittance to
the BEast. Oh, and yes, by the way, the s uccessful basketball program was
a plus, but we really didn't need any help there, thank you.
I'm not arguing that Huggins and the basketball program weren't also a key,
but to say, as some seem to be, that he was the only reason, or even the
lopsided most important reason, for UC being invited to the BEast, does not
appear to be correct.
