Amen! I made a post similar to yours a few weeks ago,
and have stopped posting because of all of this dunk
talk.
I really could care less how well somebody dunks. I
have never been one to get a funny look on my face,
act like I'm laughing, make a fist and put it in front
of my mouth, fall all over my friends that are sitting
next to me, and all of the other stuff I see people do
while watching a dunk contest.
I appreciate a dunk for the two things that it can do:
put two points on the board and give the team a little
momentum (with dunks being so common the latter isn't
as valuable anymore). I'd much rather have a guy that
can pass, dribble, rebound, defend, and shoot (and
actually make it) than a high flyer. Dunks may not
only be the downfall of fundamental basketball, but
our society as well ;)

Does a dunk get you more than 2 points? Are there
style point on a lay-up? Is a 3-pointer not good
anymore? Is it still OK to have a nice pass leading
to a basket? What is this hang up with dunks? I
dunked back in the 60's (as a skinny white boy).
Has it changed so much that we have to worship
someone that has the ability to elevate to an
un-godly level and throw it down? I am completely
fed up with this line of communication.

Even though he's been here for 2.5 years now, I
still can't believe WE have James White. I know he
hasn't put up big numbers or taken us anywhere in
the tourney, but he is arguably one of the best
athletes in the history of college basketball. And
also, as I think I may have mentioned before, he can
dunk from the foul line between his legs! Do you
have any idea how many NBA players and fans would
sh*t their pants if they saw him do that in the dunk
contest? And WE have him. Amazing. We also have
Eric Hicks too which is incredible- what 6'6" guy
sets the all-time high school shotblock record in a
good basketball state like North Carolina? And you
know he's probably really only 6'5". I remember a
few years back in the Deveroe's league in warm-ups,
he did a 360 and shined his shoes with the ball
before he dunked it! Then in the game, he did a big
2-hander on like 3 guys (including Whaley), and we
couldn't believe the glass was unshattered it was so
hard.
Yeah I know that post didn't accomplish anything
but I just love those 2 guys, I can't believe we
only have one more year of them.

Yes, its true. But I will disagree with the
"head between his legs" analogy since many players
do this to test their NBA 'stock'.
Kinda surprised Hicks didnt. It helps the player
in the long run.

Dont worry, James White will be back with his
head tucked between his legs and a big glass of NBA
REALITY in his tummy ! ( as long as he doesn't
retain an agent).
