How about if we say it is a bit like Oxford in that it is small, homey collegey type town, but very near a lot of large urban areas?

Are all of you happy we are not discussing the logo? :)

I graduated from Duke in May'04 and I can tell you that while Durham may be an "urban" city, Duke is not in an urban environment

Okay, I'll concede. You're right, I was speaking based mostly on stereotype, or personal perception. I would still be surprised if the campus was as "urban" (I'll put that one in quotes, lest anyone challenge my use of the word) as UC's though. Regardless, my main point was not to belittle the area of and surrounding Durham, more to say that kids who go to a school like Duke tend to be labeled good, smart kids, while kids that go to a school like cincy tend to be labeled thugs.

All apologies to any North Carolina natives or admirers who I may have offended with my generalizations :-)
