I think he does not have to cost them an athletic scholarship. How would
they bring back players in their operation recall program? Since he is no
longer going to be able to play, I would think that the university has some
flexibility on how to finance his "scholarship" outside of the 13 that can
be given out to "players".

Just guessing, but I assume Moore was on the accelerated 3
year graduation. Like Field, Flowers, Little, Stokes, etc.
I know that's been a big emphasis recently - get the guys
through academically ASAP (Duke style).

If he would happen to finish over the summer would his
scholarship be free and clear? That sounds like
an "everybody win" scenario, but I'm not sure. Regardless
it's good that he's gonna stay and finish school.

Also, I think if he's on the bench in street clothes that
will dispell any rumors of friction with Huggs. Wonder if
he'll travel with the team.

If Devan Downey has been following the Bearcats closely this
year he has to
be salivating with excitement. No more Chad Moore ...
Muhammed a bust ...
that leave the PG spot all to him next year.

I doubt Huggins would do this, but it would be neat if Chadd
got to suit
up for the Tulane game and make a token appearance at the
end. Give the
fans a chance to show their appreciation.

If he's on the bench the students should chant his name
until Huggs puts
him in!

I cannot fault Chadd Moore at all for stepping down.
Chronic back
pain and the rigors of basketball simply do not mix. I
wish him the
very best in his continued educational pursuits at UC.

We can always wonder "What-If." How different would this
team have been
with
these guys on the team, healthy, getting with the
program (that's a big
if),
and contributing? If everything had gone exactly like we
would have
wanted,
I think the Cats would have 1, maybe 2 losses this year.
I would beat
these 4
guys, if all went perfect, would have garnished 30 to
40% of the UC
minutes
this year.
