Sorry @ss non-conference games + sorry @ss seats = NO SELLOUT.
Why get crappy seats when you can watch them at home on TV knowing it's a foregone conclusion UC will win and the game will not be interesting?
I would expect the non-conference home schedule to remain the same next year and possibly be worse given the tough BE conference schedule. That being said, I'm staying with UCATS but only because of the possiblity of a new arena (and the fact my 3 year old son already loves the Bearcats).
Yes, you could point out the Wake Forest game was a marquee matchup. Well guess what, about 10 Wake Forest students were seated precisely 2 rows behind me. So, maybe that Silver isn't really worth its weight in silver? I know it made me turn green. Dig?

Cincinnati fans (in all sports from college to pro) are much much more
fickle than in many other cities. A dramatic increase in cost will drive
away fans, I'll bet anyone on it. The arena isn't even sold out now, so how
do they expect to sell it out with higher ticket prices. You just can't
give Cincinnati fans any more reasons to not come to a game.

I have a friend with UConn season tickets. Currently, he pays a $3,500
annual donation. He'd pay
a $2,000 donation for similar seats at UC. UConn plays in 2 arenas-on campus
& in Hartford. He recently got bumped a bit-from about the backboard into
the corner. All UConn games, men's & women's, get sold-out. Of course, UConn
has been producing a great product, & there is little competition for the
sports dollar in central Conn.
Another friend lives in KC & is a Kansas fan (2 sons have gone there).. He
doesn't go to the games, but told me of the brouhaha when the new AD,
coming from UConn, dramatically raised the donation fees for the best bb
seats. He showed no mercy for the long-time season ticket holders. Pay up or
get out. My friend is sure of the fee, but thinks it's something like
$15,000. KU sells out all of its bb games.
A couple of yrs ago Bob Goin reclassified some of the seats & moved some of
them into a higher donation category. He said that no one had been able to
move into the lower level for the preceding few yrs w/o donating at least
$75,000.
At the very least I expect the donation amt & the ticket prices to get
bumped next yr as we join the BE. How much, I have no idea.
Bill
