"Slippery slope for UC to go down, but I am sure that they will one day."
We've talked about this before and I agree. I hope it never happens, but I think any new plan needs to take care of long term supporters as well as the recent big money folks. The big money folks are only there as long as UC is successful, and when the down turn occurs, it will create a really bad budget situation during the downturn if folks like you and me have been previously priced out. We'll have to see how it develops though. Right now our endless speculation is meaningless. :)

Jon,
The day that they reseat the ShoeThirdArena is most likely the day that my UCATs membership is gone. Right now I pay about $50 per seat per game for seats on the 48 yard line at Nippert and in row 11 at the south free throw line opposite the visitor's bench. That is about $2,300 per year. If the rates went up, I would be paying more for worse seats.
If that happens, I will most likely make up my own schedule of games by scalping them and saving a bunch of money. I could be very happy picking out 5 games per year to go to and paying that money to a ticket broker. That would cost me about $1,000 for 5 great games with decent seats. Right now, I give away about 50% of all of my tickets, so my seat costs me $100 per game. Hardly a value.
I am fine if they reseat or rebuild. I will save $, save the hassle of getting there. Slippery slope for UC to go down, but I am sure that they will one day.

MessageI don't know the answer, but that has never stopped me before!
I would guess that the "regular" would be far over (one of the two
sections closest to the ends) about half way up, and the top 5
would be same sections in the top 5. Giving much more than the
$100 might get you somewhat better seats, but not much better.
Maybe half way up a little closer to the middle.
Speaking of which things are likely to change greatly in 5 or so
years when and if a new arena is ready. I'd imagine they will
still have the cheaper seats, but for many of us the new price
structure might be quite interesting! I heard that there are
folks who sit in the upper regions and donate a 5-figure amount.
The folks down low are not giving up their seats. I am sure the
"giving" at the new arena will be a lot more. For example there
are many silver bearcats who sit in the chair backs down low (the
red-sweater section). They won't be there at the new place.
With that said, I will be curious to see if those who have said
they'd come to a game if the arena was better, will come.
Tom, I am with you to an extent abut the schedule, but more so
about joining the Big East. Had we been left behind in CUSA, I
was going to give up my season tickets because >$2k/year would
have been too much. It's probably too much now, but I cannot
imagine not being their live to see UConn, Syracuse, Pitt, UL,
etc. etc. Especially after all these years of going!

This brings up a question of mine. I will be earning my
undergraduate degree this June (getting my BBA in Information
Systems, but anyway), and will thus lose rights to the student
tickets that I have used for the past five years.
What I am wondering is, what are the costs of season tickets?
On UCBearcats.com, it says that season tickets for UC Basketball
are as follows:
-- Regular - $405 plus a $100 donation to UCATS (donation of
$100 allows the purchase of up to 2 season tickets
(Total of $505 for one seat or $910 for two seats?)
-- "High Five" - $291 plus a $50 donation to UCATS per season
ticket (upper five rows of designated sections at Fifth Third
Arena)
(Total of $341 per seat?)
Do the above prices include season tickets for football as well?
And, for the "Regular" package, where should I expect my seats to
be? How much to I have to give to get in the lower level? Or is
it not a matter of money, but a matter of how long I am a season
ticket holder (or a combination of both)?
Thanks in advance to those who know for answering!
- Jay

Anyone out there a Gold Bearcat UCATs member? How much of
the $2000 is tax deductible? In the past it has been $1440 of
$1800, but it went up this year. I either threw it out or never
got that notice.
Thanks,
Andy
