Re: Will we score 50 points?

How about our 2 point guards? Between JM & Chad they played a total of 52
minutes, or about a game and a quarter. In that time they shot something
like a combined 4 of 19 (38% of the total shots UC took), and while they had
only 3 to's, they had 0, yes count them, 0, assists. Fortunately we are not
going to run in to 3 guards of that quality on the same team very often, and
having played them during the season we won't get them early in the
tournament. But we've seen them 2x's now and they have beaten our pants off
both times - that isn't an accident. Andy K said they were the best passing
team in college basketball and from what I saw last night I would hardly
disagree with him. Last night we gave effort, played decent "d," but the
offense was so pitiful that there was no way to overcome it. Maybe as part
of the 45 minute "talk" after the game, about how they had to proceed as
family for the rest of the season, Hugs might want to think about changing
the practice allocation and finding some additional time to work on the
offensive side of things. (Can Oscar work with the 2 point guards to teach
them what a point guard is supposed to do?)

Two words: Shot selection.

One word (from Bill Walton): Hoooorrrible.

Kills us. We chuck up garbage and think we can just get the rebound like
we can against Longwood or Directional U. Does not happen against quality
opposition.

How many times did we take contested shots in the first ten seconds of the
shot clock? Kick it back out and find a better shot.

We held the Illini to a very low percentage (best against them this year I
believe), and did not capitalize because of the above.

4 minutes to go. Our offense is horrible tonight. Can we make it to
50?

Illinois is really good, but UC looks like to high school team that owns
the gym they're playing in.
