Don, what I meant by that was that they had not been "the man" on "this"
team. Sure they have played basketball and have played point guard or
wherever, but someone like Chad Moore has not been responsible for UC's team
at the point before. Neither has Muhammad. Hicks did not see much of the
court before. Kirkland and White are also making big strides in realizing
that they cannot take plays off or they hurt the team.
Max was pretty much the man last year, but he also had Field and Bobbitt to
share the load. So I would say that no one was in the position they are
this year, last year.
I saw stuff that sickened me last night. You had guys stuck out top after
giving up their dribble and NO ONE MOVED THEIR ASS TO GET OPEN FOR A PASS!
I coach 4/5 grade girls and WE work on that. How can these guys not know
what to do on something as simple as that. Then the play where Kirkland
gets hit with the inbounds pass and he is not looking at Jihad is classic.
I say make the inbounds pass higher, as in at their face, then they will pay
if they look away.
By them playing tight, I think backs up what I am saying. They have not
been there so they do not know what to do in that situation. Take the loss
to heart and listen to Huggs and all will get better ;-) Each game from
here should let you know if they understand the message. Show up every
practice & game.

I think it is a good sign for the post season. This team is very young in
experience at their current position/roles. They need to have something to
hang their hats on, for a reason to work their butts off and listen to
Huggs.
The players: Hicks, Maxiell, Kirkland, White, Moore, and Muhammad all Jrs
and Srs. Experience in their current position/roles is not the problem. This
team has many problems two of which is the point guard position and no big
post player. Neither of which is likely to improve. Its nice to have hope
but this team is really limited in how good it can become. Don
