IMHO: Kirkland never was, isn't now, and never will be the player we all think he can be.
He's soft and makes more bad decisions then good decisions per game.
He should be a dominant player because of his skills and height creating mis-matches but is just hasn't happened for three years on a consistent basis.
My "Thumbs Up Move of the Game" last night occured during the second half:
Jihad inbounds the ball to Kirkland who isn't looking and ready to receive the pass. Next picture is Kirkland on the bench discussing it with Huggins.
I didn't go into last nights game expecting to win but I hoped we wouldn't be blown out and embarressed. The superior team was in white and orange last night and I do mean superior.

We were tight. Too nervous. Doesn't bode well for postseason. One player
who should've helped us more in this game-Kirkland-could'vecdriven & posted
up. Bill

Two words: Shot selection.
One word (from Bill Walton): Hoooorrrible.
Kills us. We chuck up garbage and think we can just get the rebound
like we can against Longwood or Directional U. Does not happen against
quality opposition.
How many times did we take contested shots in the first ten seconds of
the shot clock? Kick it back out and find a better shot.
We held the Illini to a very low percentage (best against them this year
I believe), and did not capitalize because of the above.

4 minutes to go. Our offense is horrible tonight. Can we make it to
50?
Illinois is really good, but UC looks like to high school team that owns
the gym they're playing in.
