I agree with most all of the info you posted axcept rebounding. I think it is extremley hard to find a man in the zone. This could cause more foul trouble inside, especially if our guards get lazy.

How come Souly isnt getting any "clean up time", I mean we beat purdue by 20. i know he is a project but Bob cant believe that Bright will be enough to spell the "dynamic dou" At some point there both going to have 3 fouls in the first half. I think Dayton will be a good opportity for Souly, (they got a 6'11) but they look weak this year.

I think the zone is here to stay. The zone helps pack in the
inside to help
alleviate problems with our big men being undersized...i.e.
rebounding,defense, and getting tired.

The general problem with using a zone is that is causes the guards
to have
to cover more ground, but with the us being deep in the guard and
smallforward position this year that will help in keeping fresh
players in those
positions.

I posted for the first time a couple of weeks ago, my feeling then was
solidified this past weekend. We need Kirkland to carry this
team. Max and
Hick will always be beast but will be undersized all season. It
looks as if
the combo of the level heade moore and quick footed Jihad will
take care of
our PG issues. We cant count on Williams, Jihad, White or Moore
to shoot
consistent from three but Kirkland has the size speed and range to be
unstoppable if he plays smart. White is a great athlete but I see
morepotential in Kirkland. It would be nice to have Banks but
without him UC
goes where Kirk takes them. Hopefully the Kirk that showed up
Saturday is
here for good. If not it might be a long season. Glad were not in
the Big
East yet, or it could be a NIT first for the bearcats.

Does anyone think the Zone is here to stay? I remeber a team 5-10
years ago
had great success with pressing full court and playing match up
zone. I
think we have the athletes to do the same, if our depth doesnt
hurt us.

Today's Enquirer Article on Kirkland:

BANKS CASE: Athletic director Bob Goin said
Wednesday he believes freshman guard Vincent Banks'
playing status will be resolved by the first of the
year.

"That's a belief," Goin said. "I have no
documentation of that."

Banks, who declined to comment Wednesday, has been
practicing with the Bearcats but has not played in a
game as he tends to an academic situation that UC
officials say they cannot specify because of privacy
considerations.
