Another Potential Recruit in Miami

Mike,
Have you heard of this potential recruit?
He plays at the same high school as Edwin
Rios in Miami. I found this on Insiders.com

For Dwayne Collins, it's all about playing catch-up. Not only is he fairly
new to the game of basketball, but now he's trying to make a positional
transition.

Dwayne Collins didn?t play basketball until last year and the 6-7 ½,
215-pound Miami Senior High (Fla.) product was forced to play primarily in
the post.
This year coach Marcus Carreno will let Collins roam on the perimeter a
little more and try to improve his wing skills in preparation for the next
level.

``I don?t think it?s going to be easy, but I think I can make the transition
because I?ve been practicing a lot,? Collins said.

``He?s so athletic and has such a long wingspan,? Carreno said. ?He runs the
floor so well and is starting to learn how to play the three. Eventually,
he?ll be a three-man ? but right now he?s more of a four. He?s been playing
with his back to the basket his whole life.?

Collins averaged 16 points and 10.8 boards per game last season despite
struggling early and having to sit out his freshman season due to transfer
rules.

Collins, who is a relentless rebounder, burst onto the scene nationally this
past summer with a strong showing at the ABCD Camp and also playing well for
Team Breakdown.

``He?s a humble, well-mannered kid off the court, but a ferocious dunker and
intimidating shot-blocker on it,? said Team Breakdown?s Kenny Gillion. ?Once
his post moves catch up with his physical tools, things can get ugly for his
opponents.?

Collins has already made progress with his school list and he has Florida,
Cincinnati, Kansas and Wake Forest as his top four. Carreno also mentioned
Miami is in the mix.

``I don?t really have a favorite in that group,? Collins said. ?Everyone?s
basically even right now.?

I'll vote YES for the streaming video.

Can I request the Huggs show as well!

I was able to TIVO the Mark Dantonio show (11:30am Sunday on FOX19) and
see
lots of highlights from the game.

It would be nice if someone from UC or FOX19 could make those shows
available on the web via streaming video for the out of towners.

You said it all in your first sentence. If there's one thing Goin has to
do
before his time is up, he needs to get UC football into a better package.
I'm sure just about all C-USA teams get better local coverage that what UC
is allotted.

Too bad this isn't on TV.

38-10 Cats leading with 14:20 to go in the 4th quarter.
