With the lack of post depth, I just don't see how it's
going to work. Correct, in C-USA, that's not a
factor, but I don't forsee tournament success, unless
your Kirkland comment pretains to his post play.

Hope I'm wrong, of course.

You beat me to checking the whole conference for the
matchups at
center. If Iti is the only true tall guy, we should
be in good shape.

My forecast is for a stronger than expected year for
Kirkland and
Banks and a less than expected year for Souley.
Also Hicks will get 3
more reb's per game than a man his size should get.

Cant wait for Monday night !

Two more observations about our depth - I've been
very conservative of my
estimations of Banks, Bright, and Souleyman. So I
am prepared to be
pleasantly suprised if any or all three step up.

Last year we had 2 big questions about unknown
players - Nick Williams
converting to point, would Whaley be able to make
the transition to Div 1?
This year, our only big question is whether Chadd
and Jihad will be able to
hand the point.

For me all the other questions are pretty minor -
how improved will Hicks,
Kirkland, White and Williams be?

I'm not too worried about our size until March - I
was looking at a summary
of the conference - the only true center with
significant talent is Iti from
Charlotte.

I think others have made the point that in our
front court we have present
many matchup problems. We may be able to minimize
the concerns about the
post by playing up tempo - we have the
player/athletes to do it.

It should be another great, fun, exciting season
for the Bearcats!

Go Cats.

There was also the Laettner shot vs. UConn where
he
inbounded the ball, no one was gaurding him, and
all
the guy did was toss the ball back to him, as he
had,
and buried, the open shot.

Wasn't one of the key criticisms of KY after the
Laetner miracle shot
that they *didn't* guard the guy inbounding the
ball?

I am not a coach, nor have I played one on TV,
but I
think having a
tall guy challenging you inbounding the ball
makes
it difficult to get
the ball to the spot you want. If you don't put
a
man on the guy
inbounding, he has better vision of the court
and
you don;t have
someone cutting his angles. Just a thought.

If you can't get the ball across mid-court or
inbounds your height advantage
isn't going to help you. This leads me to
another
question. Why do teams
guard the inbounder. Why not guard 5 on 4?
