I think two of the keys to this season on the defensive end will be on
the ball pressure and passing lane pressure. We all know that UC does
not have a lot of depth or size in the post so the defense needs to
make it as difficult as possible to get the ball into the post. That
means putting a lot of pressure on the ball handlers and clogging the
passing lanes. If opposing teams with good size in the post are able
to run their offense and get the ball into the post, UC could struggle
to beat those teams.

As I wait for the polls to close, I've gotten a chance to look at our
personnel for this year.

The good news: the backcourt
PG - Moore, Muhammad, Lucas
SG - White, Williams, Banks
SF - Kirkland, (White), Bright

The good but shallow: the frontcourt
PF - Maxiell, (Kirkland)
PF - Hicks, Souleyman

We have 7 proven players in the rotation, and 4 new players (Souleyman,
Muhammad, Banks, and Bright)

How might the 200 minutes get shared?
PG Moore - 25, Muhammad 15
SG White - 15, Williams 20, Banks 5
SF Kirkland - 20, (White - 15), Bright 5
PF Maxiell - 33, (Kirkland - 10)
PF Hicks - 32, Souleyman 5

Maxiell 33
Hicks 32
White 30
Kirkland 30
Moore 25
Williams 20
Muhammad 15
Banks 5
Bright 5
Souleyman 5

Compared to last year - we will have better play at the point, we will miss
Kareem Johnson, but I wouldn't want to go inside against Hicks and Maxiell.
If we can keep them on the court, it should be another great year.

Go Cats!
