Agreed. If you look at last year's final 4 teams, the 2 top players from each team were usually guards. Obviously Uconn had the unique asset of having a great guard and great big man. That is why I think people overate the issue of getting big men when recruiting. We obviously need post players, but it seems that the teams that go far in the torney are dominated by good guards. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with early draft entries and the depletion of good/dominate post players going to college.

It is so very important in today's game to have a guards that can
dribble, penetrate, pass and make shots. We all saw how Illinois
destroyed us last season because they had two PGs on the floor that
could do all of this. I think the key differentiating factor is the
ability to make shots, especially beyond the arc. That is why I think
Van Exel was so effective in running UC's attack. And that's why
Steve Logan was so effective.
