RE: Downey

I emailed Dave Telep a few days ago and he said that
we have a 50/50 shot at landing Eaton or Downey.  He
said that Clemente will probably end up at Miami.   He
didn't say what other school has the 50/50 shot at landing
either player, but my guess would be Oklahoma State for
Eaton and Arkansas for Downey.

Downey has already visited Arkansas and Tennessee. He has also scheduled a
visit with Texas and is in the process of scheduling one with Illinois. 


But Scott said if Downey likes what he sees at UC this weekend, he might
commit orally. 


"It's a possibility," he said. "Texas and Illinois are kind of late on the
scene, but he's been in pretty close contact with (UC) coach (Andy) Kennedy
for the entire recruiting period. 


"He enjoyed both visits to Arkansas and Tennessee. He's really looking
forward to this one. He's intrigued with the success they've had there. He
wants to get an up-close look at it. I wouldn't say he's leaning towards
them, but you never know."
