Video - it is hard to get a full understanding of a players game by
watching a 2 min video of them, altho you can better ascertain their
athleticism.

A players game can change so much upon arriving at a college campus
that some of the aspects you mention are not primary in a coaches
mind, especially the freshmen as opposed to the JC guys. Darnell
Burton was not a good 3pt shooter when he arrived. Kenyon was no where
near his potential as a freshman, as we all saw.

I'm not aware of any in home visits, but at this time of the year the
player usually goes to the college, as opposed to the other way
around.

Time prevents me from doing a ton of research on all the "possibles"
(like Criswell). But there is no doubt that Huggs and staff are aware
of them because of thier game assessments of Evans that have and will
occur.

Remember - just because the websites likes ours, Rivals and Insiders
haven't heard of them, doesn't mean that they aren't out there.

Tomorrow begins the open contact period
for coaches to make in home visits with
potential recruits and I wanted to make a
few comments in regards to who we are
actively recruiting.

Looking at the list of present recruits on this website, three
of them have made verbal commitments to
other schools. Tyler Smith verballed to
Tennessee this past weekend, Ben McCauley
committed to NC State, and Ryan Boyd
committed to Southwest Missouri State last week.

UC has 4 scholarships to give out to the
class of 2005. One has already been given to
Tyree Evans and one needs to go to a point guard, but
which one is the millions dollar question. For those of
you that have a computer that allows you to play video's
off the internet rivals.com has video on Eaton, Clemente,
Downey, and Flowers. Watching the three potential
point guard recruits I would have to say that would fit
UC's system best at this moment.

Watching Dennis Clemente's video I am not sure there is enough balls
to share between Banks, Bright, Evans, and Clemente.
Offense would not be a problem with this group, but I
think they would lake a true playmaker.

Downey is looked to be a shoot first point guard as well. He is
extremely quick, but he looks to be very thin. Giving up
20-25 pounds and 2-3 inches in height may hurt his ability
to put up the same numbers in college.

Eaton looked to be the best fit for UC. He can get into the lane, make
the mid range jump shoot, shoots free throws very well.
Downey only shoot 57% from the FT line in one of
the tournaments this past summer. Byron also to be a
very aggressive defender.

With Banks, Bright, and Evans coming to UC this team does not need
another scorer from
the perimeter. They need a point guard who understand the
system and can create shots for his teammates. I have
to believe UC is a lock for one of this three players.

On a good note Jovan Adams is suppose to choose between
UNLV and Arkansas by the end of the week. If he chooses
the Hogs that would eliminate them from recruiting Clemente and
Downey. Again, I will take any of the three but Eaton would fit our
systems best.

Mike, do we know of any in home visits that Huggins has scheduled??
We have two remaining scholarships to give and
both should go to a post player. My concern here is that if Flowers or
Davis commit to another school UC will be back in the Juco ranks
recruiting another Derek Hollman or Kareem Johnson.

Has anybody heard anything about Leo Criswell-teammate of Tyree Evans
at Winchendon?
Sorry for the long post, but this should be a very exciting time for UC basketball.
