Who's Ewing?

The key to getting Eaton away from Oklahoma State is
going to be really impressing his mom. She's the one
in charge.
Since we're talking about who UC should have taken in
certain classes, I'm going to be interested to see if
UC made the right choice in taking Jihad over
Clinkscales, especially when Clinkscales would have
kept them from needing to look for another PG for 05.

same old, where they go after blue chippers and very
rarely get them. I'll bet UC has a 2% success rate
with their first choices (and that is including only
the players that they think they have a realistic
chance of getting). It's frustrating as a Bearcat
fan. I'm done getting my hopes up.

McGhee situation, the real question was whether to

or McGhee. I believe Land got the nod because he was
a local guy. With
hindsight we would have kept McGhee and let Land go.
I mean no disrespect to Land. I admire him for
facing up to his mistakes
and coming back and playing with the team his senior
year. I think it took
a lot of courage and showed that his character
developed. (Though I cannot
figure for the life of me why he quit with just a
few games to go and the
tournaments approaching?)
The point I'm making is that with hindsight -
knowing how McGhee developed
and how Land's career went - McGhee would have been
better to keep.

It worked pretty well for UC too...since Dermarr
took McGhee scholly, well,
except for Kenyon breaking his leg. If not for that,
I think it would have
been well in UC favor.
Huggs knew he was one player away from a title run
and that was Dermarr, not
"Ace" Mcghee. Aaron developed nicely, but I think he
found the right
situation for him and that probably wouldn't have
been staying at UC anyway.

wELL, now that 5/8 is dead, you can sign whoever you
want, and then simply
encourage your weakest returning scholarship player
to transfer or walk on.

Huggins was recruiting Lionel Chalmers and Kenny
Satterfield. Satterfield committed first and we

little
different. We have a chance to lock one of the best
PG's
in the country(not stating Downey isn't either)and
get
one of the best PF available in the country in
Flowers. Do
we risk the chance of landing both an elite PG and
PF prospect
to get another elite PG prospect. Tough to call!!!
Regardless
it looks like we will have some talent visiting
Clifton!!!
Looking ahead a bit, if Eaton or Downey commit to
us, we would
have some exceptional talent in the backcourt and on
the wings.
Banks, Evans, Bright, Eaton or Downey. Lots of
scoring options.

Many years ago I asked Huggins this question and his
response was that you
don't wait around, you take the first one that
commits, (otherwise why are
you recruiting them in the first place) EXCEPT if
you think/know you have a
real shot at a Mickey D AA type, someone who was
really very special. Then
you make sure you keep a slot open.

PS - To Zahid - I didn't respond because I had a
computer crash and your
kind message was one that I lost.

It looks like Devan Downey will be making a visitto
Clifton as well. I found this on Insider.comand Southeast trail him
After watching college programs from the Midwest
around all summer, Devan Downey finally decided toremove some of the gray
area from his recruitment. The 5-foot-10 pointguard from Chester (S.C.)
High trimmed his list to six schools.Arkansas, Tennessee, Miami and
"In no order, they're Maryland, Cincinnati,
South Carolina," Downey said. The Terps andBearcats will definitely get
visits and Arkansas is in position for one aswell.
the coaching
Mike will we accept the first PG to commit or is
staff looking favoring Byron Eaton over any otherpotential recruit?

Yeah, right.
