A few years back there was some discussion about this topic on Huggs radio show. He pretty much stated that with teams going to bowl games around Jan. 1 the season is all but over when the player would join the team. He said many times this past season near Christmas that he couldn't understand why the players were letting up in games because "we only have 2 more months of basketball." I think he would let Eaton walk-on the basketball team, but for players he is counting on, he wants them the entire year.

Not Bearcat related; did anyone see the article in the Post today about the Kentucky recruit?

Tyler Hansbrough hasn't played a college basketball game, but that didn't stop one university from paying him the ultimate compliment.
When Hansbrough, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., went to Missouri on an official visit, the university held a mock jersey retirement ceremony for him.
Hansbrough was impressed when he saw his No. 50 jersey hanging in the gymnasium.

This makes me ill! No other way to look at it other than a desperate program. Anyone who earned the right to be up there should be outraged. I've heard the Huggs line "All you get is a pair of shoes and a hard time" and hope it's 100% true. Mizzou wonders why they can only recruit pre-Madonnas.

I'd love to know why UC is telling him basketball
only, I've never heard of them restricting a player
from playing 2 sports. James White ran track this year
and Huggs early in his career used walk-on football
players.

Maybe they just need to get Coach Dantonio to get on
the phone and call Eaton and tell him he's interested
in him for football too.
