The biggest draw to an ex-NBA coach, successful or not, would be that he has
contacts in the NBA so the kid might get a better look from NBA scouts with
a phone call from Rick to a buddy in the NBA that owes him one.

Why would Pitino's NBA experience be attractive, he was a loser in the
NBA... :)

I don't see money being an issue with an ex-NBA player.  I'd say, IF,
someone like Corie Blount wanted to join the Bearcats coaching staff it
would be to coach, not to make a bunch of money.

Secondly, any former Bearcat player with 10 years of NBA experience is
gonna be able to coach to the level that Huggins needs.

My only concern would be the commitment that a former NBA player would
want to give to being a coach that also has to spend days and days on
the road recruiting.  Being a recruiting coordinator is a big commitment
due to the amount of time spent away from home.

I agree with two caveats:

1. Do we have an ex-NBA player who would want to be on the staff? Money
is an issue among others.
2. Can he coach? Just because your a player, doesn't mean you can coach.
I can't see Huggins window-dressing with a coach with NBA experience who
is not an asset otherwise.

It's kind of like the pleas for a point guard... does one exist that
wants to come here, and can he add value.
