True but you want to bring someone in who will work hard in recruiting the 
kids and will be an asset to the team in regards to coaching the players. 
Now I do believe that Corie Blount would do all of these things.  I can't 
remember him doing a bad thing during his NBA career.  I would not be 
willing to say the same about someone like Art Long or Ruben Patterson.  I 
think it would be very interesting to have someone like Corie Blount on 
the coaching staff.

Seems like my suggestion a week or two ago to hire a former UC & NBA 
player
like Corie Blount is a valid one.

Face it, all the above average kids these days have their eyes firmly
planted on the NBA and college is only a formality to get them to that 
next
level.  Any way a school can associate themselves with the NBA can almost
only be a plus.

Do we have any info on Byron Eaton.  Rivals
is reporting that Cincy & L'ville are his
two favorites.  I have also heard that
we are recruiting his high school teammate
Gary Flowers.  Both are rated in the top
50 in the country according to Rivals.  This
is what I got from them.

Ranked in the Top 50 in the class of 2005 and one of the top players in

impressive performance Friday night at the Tournament of Champions in 
North
Carolina. CardinalSports.com's Howie Lindsey caught up with the 5-11,
210-pound point guard after the game to get an updated list of his 
favorite
colleges.

Dallas point guard Byron Eaton led the Mustangs to a victory Friday night
against Team Richmond.
"Basketball, right now it is Louisville, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, 
Georgia
Tech and K-State," Eaton said after his game on the court of Wilson
Recreation Center on Duke University's campus.

Eaton's list also includes hometown school SMU, rounding out the top six
programs that are currently vying for his future commitment.

"Louisville and Cincinnati are the top two," Eaton said when asked if any
particular schools stand out above the crowd.

Eaton plans to take the SAT exam on June 5 near his home in Dallas. After
taking the standardized test, Eaton would be available to take college
visits. Eaton said he previously had a visit scheduled to Louisville about
June 15, but he'd like to reschedule the visit for the fall during 
classes.

"I want to take all my visits in the fFall so I can get with the team, you
know what I'm saying? I want to see how everything is," Eaton explained. 
"I
don't want to take it in the summer when everybody is gone because then 
I'm
just there with the coaches. I want to see my (potential)teammates and see
who is going to be there when I get there and who isn't."

Eaton mentioned Rick Pitino's experience in the professional ranks with 
the
Knicks and Celtics as one of the factors leading to his interest in
Louisville.

Eaton mentioned that Lincoln High School (N.Y.) point guard Sebastian
Telfair's decision to declare for the 2004 NBA draft raised Louisville's
chances. Eaton was also impressed with Cincinnati head coach Bob Huggins,
citing Huggins and staff as a primary reason for his intense interest in 
the
Bearcats.

"I just like Cincinnati's coaching staff and their game right now- they 
need
a point guard also," said Eaton. "I mean, both of them (Cincinnati and
Louisville) told me that I could come in and start, but that it is up to 
me
if I start. They said if you come in, you can start, but if you don't work
hard you are going to be at the end of the bench. I like that, I don't 
want
anything given to me, I want to have to work for it."

Eaton has an extremely quick crossover and passes well in transition,
including a couple of cross-court bullets Friday night to fast-breaking
teammates.

"Byron Eaton is probably one of the most competitive, hard-nosed point
guards around," Dallas Mustangs assistant coach Al Johnson said Friday
night. "He led his team to the State Championship game this year as a
junior. He won the State Championship as a freshman starter."

Eaton and the Mustangs won the championship of the Saint Louis (Mo.)
Invitational in the 17-and-under division last weekend.

"He's just a complete player and nobody can get to the basket as well as 
he
can and finish at the rim," Johnson said. "Last week, he shut Brandon Rush
down with six points in the half up in Saint Louis. He's a big time player
on a big time level and he is one of the top players in Texas right now."

Eaton and the Mustangs got a workout against Team Richmond, putting the 
game
