Changes At The Post

I know that a recurring thread that pops up on the Forum just about 
every season is complaining about the coverage that UC gets from the 
Cincinnati Post.

Frank Carini, who has been the sports editor of the Post for the last 
couple of years, has resigned to take a job nowhere.  He is simply 
moving away from Cincinnati.

I have mentioned several times that the Post has a terminal disease 
that will claim it in about 2 years.  The end of the joint operating 
agreement with the Enquirer in December, 2005 (or is it 2006) will 
leave Cincinnati with just one paper.

The end of the JOA (which has been rumored for years) has meant thyat 
most of the talent at the Post has left.  Bill Koch saw the writing 
on the wall two years ago (or so) and took early retirement, only to 
find a spot at the Enquirer.  Most recently, Jason Williams left 
(good riddance).  Marc Lancaster, who did a great job on the UC beat 
two years ago, is now covering the Reds and will probably be the next 
to go.

Bottom line:  Don't expect coverage from the Post.  Management is 
going to wring every penny of profit it can from the Post, running it 
into the ground.
