I blame first the NCAA for creating a flawed calculation to begin with.
The media will simply report what the NCAA has said, based on the NCAA
press releases. Of course, the NCAA has now changed this. You could say
that the NCAA saw Huggins' point (finally) and came back from the dark
side.
If you want to be upset with national media pick the opinion piece
writers who write "features" that accuse the Bearcats of having no
graduates. They have more of an opportunity to 'investigate' and
'research' all the details, but chose not to or didn't care to do so.
(Frank Fitzpatrick of Philadelphia Inquirer was the most recent blatant
offender)
Here is a quote by a reporter that actually did some investigation -
"Had we printed that Cincinnati had a graduation rate of zero, it would
have been the "truth." But it would have unfairly represented what was
really going on in Huggins' program."
Unfortunately, that article appeared in the Univ of Washington student
newspaper and was written by a college kid. Presumably a college writer
who was working for a good grade, not a paycheck.
The only time I read Sportsline.com, ESPN.com or other national websites
is when there is a specific article that is sent to me. I don't visit
any of those on a regular basis. Haven't seen ESPN's home page in a few
months.

You're preachin to the choir! We all know this and feel the same way.
Try telling this to the ESPN and other media schmucks who consistently
report UC in a negative manner.

This kind of crap is so old and such bull $^*# it drives me crazy. The
controling force of sports media (ESPN, Thanks Bob Ley) reports
something that is not true six years ago and people still take it to the
bank that that is the way it is. It is not the way it is. Anyone who
wants to take 5 minutes to study the basketball program at UC will see a
coach who preaches family and deeply cares about the kids that are in
it. Not just while they are playing ball here also, after they leave to
go to the pros or into the rest of their lives. He is there for them
then as well. The alumni certainly do seem to be in contact with him a
great deal to talk about their lives and to check up on him. There are
certainly a great deal of graduate photos on the walls of the basketball
office. What is our graduation rate the last several years??? I never
hear that brought up. Only the irresponsible journalism of Bob Ley,
Tony Kornheiser and others on ESPN also known as KARP (Kiss Ass of Rick
Pitino). The only piece of the puzzle that network is missing to spread
the mis information about UC is Armein Katayan (sp) from CBS. Report
the truth and facts. It is done for other colleges.
