How about this...

How many Freshman PG's has Huggs had since he got here...How many have
actually helped get past the second round of the NCAA tournament... I
can think of NONE.  And Satterfield only played tow years...

You can look at things in many ways. We have to remember there is a
limited talent pool and frankly UC is not THE school to go to.  Huggs
tried very hard for Mateen Cleves, and others, but hey,you can't get
them all, not to mention there really aren't that many.  

Also odds are it would take a Freshman point even LONGER to get Huggs
system, plus they have to deal with a faster game etc. the jump from JC
isn't as big.

Any High School Point guard that "will stay four years" isn't a top100
recruit.  That's just the atmosphere of today's game.

Would EVERYONE prefer a High School Point Guard that would stay four
years... Of course. It's just that you can't, as Don says, "go to Wal
Mart and order one"

How many Juco PG's has Huggins recruited to UC since he has been here?
Every other year it seems that we have to put all our hopes and dreams
in an incoming JC PG.  How many have actually helped their teams get
better or advance past the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament.  I can only
think of one, Nick Van Exel!!! Mike Horton was suppose to be the best JC
guard in the country when he came to UC.  He really never brought us to
the next level.  Taron Barker is another example.  He was one the best
JC PG's in America.  I hope Jihad Muhammad is a diamond in the rough.
My other problem is that it usually takes a full year to understand
Huggins system.  We all have said that many times on this forum.  Next
years team has to much talent to have a ??? mark at the PG spot.
Finally JC PG's stay only 2 years.  Why not go after a HS PG who will
stay at UC for 4 years.
We all know that if you stay W/Huggs for 4 years you will become the
best player you can possibly become.  
Lets just hope Huggs has everything under control and as always trust in
Huggs.

Lock - they are only a lock after they arrive on campus and participate
in a game. Other scenario's don't always work out as well. 

Jamar - verballed, but didn't sign. 
Alex Galindo - Signed with UTEP, but just today got released from his
> written< commitment.
Pilgrim - participated in MidMad, but that was it. 
So nothing is guaranteed.

PG - We are going after a PG and thats been extensively discussed.  I'm
thinking that Jihad Muhammad will commit to Cincinnati some time soon to
add to Banks and Bright.  Then if Pilgrim is not on the team for
whatever reason that will open up a scholly to a big man, simply because
we've just gotten three guards. If there is no big man available, Lofton
is in.  My opinion. 

2005 - Just because there are no listed PF's or C's on the database,
doesn't mean that we aren't recruiting them.  It just means I haven't
discovered them yet. 

D Fletcher - I've started a file on Fletcher, simply because of the one
quote in a Sheboygan newspaper. If more media mention him, I'll make the
file "active".

Does anybody have a clue to where the last
scholarship will go?  It sounds like Chris
Lofton is a near lock for us, but we have
heard that story before(Tack Minor-Jamar Butler).
So that gives us one more scholarship if Pilgrim 
doesn't get his academics in order.  

Will Huggs
go after the JC point guard or will he give the
scholarship to a big men.  I heard that Jerome Habel
has re-opened his recruitment and is exploring all 
options.  He sounds like a big risk giving the
fact that he is currently attending night school.  

As for the 2005 class, how come we are not recruiting
any power forwards or centers.  We lose Maxiell and
Whaley after next year.  If I was a high school PF or
C playing on the east coast I would be licking my chops 
for Cincy to recruit me.  They have a chance to come
in and start their freshmen year, while playing in the
best basketball conference ever assembled.  

The last thing I am wondering about is our schedule for
next year.  It sounds like we will be battle tested with
some quality opponents.  We play Purdue-Wake Forest-Xavier-
Dayton...Does anybody know who else will be playing in the 
Las Vegas Invitational in December?  And I heard that ESPN
is trying to schedule a marquee game against a Big East opponent next
year.  Does anybody know anything about that game? D/Taylor Mill
