RE: Please Explain part 2

You're right, making a run one year and one year only won't have a huge
affect. But making the tournament every year and a deep run every other
year or every third year will make a huge difference.

Before 1991 how much national exposure had UC had, how many top 100 recruits
were they getting, how much money was the basketball team making, how many
fans came to the games, how much merchandise was being sold?

UC's deep tournament runs in 92 and 93 changed all that. Recruits still
talk about UC's "up-tempo" and "pressing" type of game and except for half
of this season they haven't played that style in 10 years.

I don't think it will make that much of a difference... More like "Flash
in the pan"

A LOT = increased national exposure, increased recruiting exposure,
increased nationl respect, increased fan base, a lot more money (ncaa
tourney money as well as merchandising and tv money that's likely to
increase for future games).

A lot = 4 spots in the final ranking.

14th in the polls and a near win in the Final 8 is A LOT different than
18th in the polls and a blowout second round loss.

The fact remains we finished 18th and X finished 14th. The discourse on
this forum suggested that everything was so awful at UC and everything
was so wonderful in X land. Four spots difference after all that
blather.

I'm not really sure what you need an explanation on? Are you asking why
UC ended up ranked 18th in the nation?? Do you believe they should have
been ranked higher or lower?? and....What does the last sentence in your
post exactly mean?? I'm Confused???

18th.... finished in final 32. Arguably due to the respect.
X is 14th and went to the final 8....

4 spot difference... and supposedly a huge difference tourney outcome.
