Miles Brand announces Grad Rate changes
From: Michael Ryan

Two days before the start of the Final Four games, NCAA President Miles
Brand announced that, as of 2005, ". . . if a student-athlete leaves for
academic reasons, flunks out, then that team . . . loses the scholarship
for a year."
However, Brand also reconfirmed that student athletes who transfer in or
out of a university will not cause a schools graduation rate to suffer.
"For many college students today, not just basketball players,
transferring schools is commonplace. . . .
Our new rates will take into account transfers in and transfers out, and
we will no longer hold schools and teams responsible in those rates."
